Bloomberg
New Economy Forum

November 14-17, 2022 | Singapore

A Global Event

The fifth annual Bloomberg New Economy Forum returned from November 14-17 to Singapore with a rare opportunity. Inflation is rampant across the globe. War rages in Ukraine. Famine looms as food supplies dwindle and costs skyrocket. Broken supply chains and labor shortages have crippled output. A renewed reliance on fossil fuels threatens to put carbon-reduction targets forever out of reach.

In the shadow of a turbulent immediate future, The New Economy Forum facilitated face-to-face discussion among world leaders in plenary sessions and intimate, closed-door breakouts. By empowering ideas with capital and convening the most energetic, imaginative and capable people to confront our collective challenges, Bloomberg New Economy fostered a dynamic environment where innovation thrived, growth is sustainable, excesses are contained, outcomes are more equitable, and prosperity is shared.

Although daunting, it required a community with ambitious ideas, ample capital and the courage to act. The New Economy Forum lit a path through the storm.

“The time since the last New Economy Forum has dramatically underlined why the event, and the themes that drive it, are so important. The pandemic has shown how interconnected we are and why cooperation is critical.”

– Michael R. Bloomberg

Editorial Focus

To illuminate the challenges facing the new economy, as well as the solutions, we harness the full force of Bloomberg — 2,700 journalists, 280 economists and analysts in 120 bureaus, 500 photographers on assignment globally, and 100 billion datapoints processed on the Terminal every day.

Our editorial program spans five subject areas: Finance, Trade, Climate, Cities and Health.

A particular focus is the growing US-China divide. The New Economy cannot flourish if the world splits apart in a new Cold War. Bloomberg New Economy has been at the forefront of this global story, with the overarching question: What does a workable US-China relationship look like?

See background materials and detailed insights for each of our five editorial pillars, compiled by our Knowledge Partner McKinsey & Company at mckinsey.com/new-economy-forum.
