Driving Collective Action

Bloomberg New Economy Coalitions are data-driven, community-led initiatives that bring together leading experts across the public and private sectors for dialogue, collective recommendations and commitments, and coordinated action around urgent global challenges. Bloomberg New Economy is currently working on five coalitions: the Competitive Resilience Coalition, Energy Technology Coalition, International Cancer Coalition, Dynamic Cities Coalition and the Climate Technology Coalition.

Competitive Resilience Coalition

Organizations that prepared for the COVID-19 pandemic through proactive planning, resilient systems, supplier trust and transparent leadership were better positioned to navigate disruption and seize opportunities. As leaders confront growing uncertainty driven by artificial intelligence, demographic shifts, geopolitical fragmentation, energy constraints and severe weather, resilience has become essential to long-term competitiveness. Decisions once considered peripheral are now central to strategic success. Launched in October 2026 and co-chaired with Marsh, this Bloomberg New Economy Coalition aims to help organizations strengthen competitive resilience: anticipating disruption, improving decision-making, identifying opportunities amid uncertainty, and sustaining growth through profound economic, technological and geopolitical change.

Energy Technology Coalition

The Bloomberg New Economy Energy Technology Coalition galvanizes global decision makers and experts across industries to accelerate the adoption of technologies that make energy consumption more efficient, resilient, and responsive amid soaring global electricity demand. While the required transformation poses a significant global challenge, it also presents one of the biggest economic opportunities of our generation. As such, this invite-only working group aims to help companies, cities, and countries navigate this moment by focusing on where and why deployment of demand-side technologies is stuck, what’s working quietly, and what levers are being overlooked.

International Cancer Coalition

10 million people die of cancer globally each year. While the scientific community has made remarkable strides in delivering breakthrough therapies, we continue to face challenges in cancer drug development in terms of access to clinical trials, diversity and speed to market. The average development timeline for a cancer drug is 9.4 years. Clinical trials represent the critical step of translating scientific discovery to clinical practice, thus saving lives, yet only 2-8% of cancer patients are enrolled on to clinical trials. The Bloomberg New Economy International Cancer Coalition is working to tackle these challenges.

Dynamic Cities Coalition

By 2050, nearly 7 billion people – 70% of the global population – will live in cities and the global building stock will double.

This Coalition brings together a diverse set of stakeholders—from real estate developers, architects, and financiers to municipal officials and urban experts—to catalyze and design the path to progress in New Economy cities. By taking a holistic approach to urban development that is founded on clear metrics and data, we can optimize and drive capital toward sustainable solutions across the urban value chain and resilient growth in cities.

Climate Technology Coalition

The Bloomberg New Economy Climate Technology Coalition aims to identify and rapidly scale the next generation of climate-critical green technologies that will be instrumental in achieving the world’s climate goals. Renewable energy took over 20 years to reach the much needed scale that it has achieved today.  Led by a global Steering Committee of established leaders from across sectors and industries, this Coalition has set an ambitious agenda to unlock pathways to accelerate this timeframe to within a decade.
